Essential for your BIG DAY: Avoiding Sickness This Season!

There is NOTHING worse than planning for your perfect day for months and showing up sick on for it! During the fall seasons, there are many things that could ail you including the flu, pneumonia and allergies. Here at Exquisite Reflections, we want you to look and feel the best at your special event! Here are somethings to think about while working to prevent illness before your day!

Why do we get sick?
  • When our immune systems are low and not equipped to fight viruses and bacteria, illness can take it's foothold.
    • What makes our immune systems low?
      • Increased Stress & Anxiety Levels, Lack of Sleep, Poor Nutrition (on the go foods). Illness that is already present: immune system preoccupation.
What are some ways to preventing illness this season?
  • #1 Most Important Defense: Washing your hands!! Always wash before you eat and after you use the bathroom. Try not to use Alcohol gels to "wash" your hands as these can create resistant bacteria.
    • Wash your hands with warm water, soap, and scrub for at least 20 seconds in between your fingers, around, under you nails and at least to your wrists.
  • Getting at least 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Your body needs to be allowed to regenerate during this time and your brain must have time to file away everything that happened throughout the day.
  • Eat well! Eat foods that are colorful and high in vitamins.Have the right vitamins on board will increase and support the immune system. Having pro-biotics,  or acidophilus, on board will boost your defenses as well.
  • Echinacea is an herb that is used to PREVENT  not treat colds. This boosts the immune system as well.
Another alternative in preventing illness is Thieves Oil:
Thieves essential oil blend was created based on the historical tale of a band of thieves in 15th century France who would rob the bodies of those affected by the plague. Once they were caught, in exchange for their lives the made a deal with the authorities and shared with them how they were able to not be affected by the life-threatening illness. These men, who may have been spice merchants, successfully avoided contracting the plague by rubbing themselves with cloves, rosemary, cinnamon and other aromatics on their bodies before robbing their victims. And now, today's scientists confirm that the same essential oils the robbers used are powerful antimicrobial agents. Hundreds of Scientific Reports Confirm Antimicrobial Action of Essential Oils in Thieves Blend. In recent years (1987-2001) a large number of essential oils and their constituents have been investigated for their antimicrobial properties… in more than 500 reports. Essential oils of spices and herbs (Thyme, Oregano, Mint, Cinnamon, Sage, and Clove) were found to possess the strongest antimicrobial properties among the many tested. This oil can be used for cleaning and is non-toxic.
